Constructive Information About Treatment Of Scabies
Scabies, typically known as the 7 year itch, is a contagious, itchy skin issue. It's created by a mite known as Sarcoptes scabiei, a really small and almost invisible parasite with 8 legs, that burrows into one's skin and causes severe allergic itching. It is the female mites which affect us; they are generally 0,3 mm to 0,4 mm long and their male versions are approximately half their length.
With the help of a magnifying glass or a microscope, you can easily detect the presence of mites. These mites cannot move in places with temperature that is below 20 degrees C despite the capacity to survive for a long period in the said temperature. They also cannot fly or jump, thus, they just crawl. This crawling can be really disconcerting and painful sometimes, as they would feed on the blood and flesh of the host to be able to lay eggs.
Skin-to-skin contact can spread scabies. Scabies cannot be transmitted by shaking hands, or hanging a coat next to an infected owner due to its need for very close human contact interaction. Sexual contact is one way a disease such as this is passed on. Scabies, another sexually transmitted disease, is common among young people who are sexually active.
Scabies are usually found on the webs between the fingers, wrists, back of the elbows, knees, waist and umbilicus, armpit folds, area surrounding the nipples, feet, genital area, and buttocks. Scabies appear on the head, face, neck, palms and soles of the feet of infants and young children. One's daily routine can be inconvenienced with mites so get rid of them quickly.
A convenient method of natural scabies treatment is scabicide drugs. Permethrin and ivermectin are used to treat scabies. Permethrin is said to be the most efficient scabies treatment; it is applied from the neck down and washed off after 8 to 14 hours. Ivermectin, an oral anti-parasitic medication, is recommended to treat crusted scabies.
You can also use lindane, crotamiton, antihistamines, and sulfur preparations to help treat scabies. Lindane is like permethrin, which is applied in the same manner, however, it can cause seizure if it is applied in a very irritated or wet skin. Cortamiton, on the other hand, is both a lotion and cream while sulfur prepared in petrolatum is used as a cream and is known to be the most traditional form of scabies treatment. Antihistamines just relieves the itching.
The only way treatment for scabies will work is if it is administered to every single infected person so that there is no chance of people reinfecting each other. Disinfect household items such as linens, bed clothes, furniture, clothing, rugs, etc. Since these mites basically depend upon humans to survive.
